Build your Business on Zero-License Democratized RPA!

Ashish Nangla by Ashish Nangla - November 17, 2020

RPA technology has evolved over the past few years. There are many commercial vendors offering general purpose RPA solutions, but there are also different vendors who are offering RPA solutions tailored to an industry or a sub-industry. Additionally, there are tremendous opportunities for vendors who are highly knowledgeable about a specific industry to create business solutions focusing on automating tasks and processes within those industries.

For e.g. Olive saw a big opportunity within the healthcare space and built their entire healthcare automation solution suite by adopting open source technologies early on. Olive has already raised over $220m from investors to build up their solutions and client portfolio. Similarly, USHUR, a company focusing on the Insurance Industry, just raised $25m. There are many other examples.

Zero-license software allows developers to build their own industry specific (or even industry agnostic) platforms with their own unique value proposition. Licenseless RPA tools are relatively new in the market, but they are maturing quickly. Unlike most commercial software where the developers have to pay for license fees to buy the bots and as well for bot orchestration, tools like OpenBots allow you to build and manage unlimited number of bots without any license costs. OpenBots business model is based on support, services, and value add products, but the core RPA suite is fully open core and free, which allows developers to build their own solutions with no limits.

Verticalized RPA automation solutions for different industries are going to increase exponentially over next few years and license free RPA will play a critical role in accelerating the trends towards democratization and commoditization of RPA.
