Updating Chrome WebDriver for OpenBots Studio

Instructions for updating the OpenBots Chrome WebDriver

Applies to: OpenBots Studio v1.1

Problem:

When executing a Web Browser Command, you may receive an exception similar to the following:

InvalidOperationException, Exception Message: session not created: This version of ChromeDriver only supports Chrome version 85 (SessionNotCreated)

This error occurs due to the version of Chrome WebDriver being used by OpenBots not matching the version of the Chrome Browser installed on the local machine. The most probable cause of this will be Google Chrome performing an automatic update to the latest version after a new release.

Resolution:

Follow the instructions below to update OpenBots version of the Chrome WebDriver to match the version of your browser.

1. Begin by checking the version of Google Chrome running on your PC. To determine your version, navigate to chrome://settings/help in your Chrome browser.

2. You should now download the matching version of ChromeDriver from the following website. https://chromedriver.chromium.org/downloads

3. Replace the chromedriver.exe file in your OpenBots install directory with the new version that you have downloaded. If you installed OpenBots in the default install directory, this will be “C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenBots Inc\OpenBots Studio”.
