Objective

The objective of this How-To guide is to assist users in renaming files and folders using OpenBots Studio. Most processes require access to different files from the system to perform operations on said files.

Walkthrough

The following are the steps involved in renaming files and folders in OpenBots Studio. It is a procedure that involves click level operations from the Files and Folders command list.

Step 1: Select the file from the system that needs to be renamed. Use the Rename File command from the commands list to choose that file and rename it.

Select the file from the browse menu. The file in this example is a Word Document called ‘Blank Document’ and is found in a subfolder in the Project Folder called ‘Example’.
Enter the new name of the file (Renamed_File_Month_Day). This will automatically rename the file with the date the automation was ran (i.e. 10/01)
Click OK

Step 2: After updating the file name, the user may also change the name of the folder where the file is saved. To do so, use the Rename Folder command in OpenBots Studio and select the appropriate folder.

Select Rename Folder Command
Select the folder from the system (in this case, the subfolder called ‘Example’ inside the Project Folder was used)
Enter new name for the folder (Renamed_Folder_Month_Day). Same naming as the file in the previous step.
Click OK

The files and folder operations are usually combined with other programs or operations on different units. These operations provide efficient files and folder handling in processes
