Objective

The objective of this How-To guide is to assist the users to extract a zip file. Move the extracted file from current folder to another folder. Duplicating (Copying) files to a new folder in OpenBots. Most processes require access to different files from the system to perform operations on them.

Walkthrough

The following are the steps involved in Extracting files from a zip folder, move folders to another folder & copy the files in the folder to a new folder in OpenBots. It is a procedure that involves click level operations from the Files and folders command list.
Step 1: Extracting a file from a Zip folder already existing in the computer. Ensure there is a Zip file with documents existing in the PC. Create a new folder where the files and compress them to Zip if there is none. Create folder command can be used to perform the action. It creates a new empty folder at the specified location. (Refer Move Duplicate & Delete original guide to create a new folder)
  • Select Extract Files Command from System Automation -> File Commands
  • Select the Source File (File path)
  • Enter the File Path to send after extraction
  • Select the variable to extract the list of files (ExtractedFilePaths)

Step 3: After moving the folder from the root folder to another folder, copy the file in the root folder to a new folder. Copy folder command is used to copy the folder with the files in it, one file at a time in OpenBots.

The files and folder operations are usually combined with other programs or operations on different units. These operations provide efficient files and folder handling in processes.

All the commands in this guide can be utilized alongside many of the other commands that will be discussed in later guides to perform several operations with files and folders. Below is a snapshot of the process discussed in the guide.

Commands utilized for the above concept (Extract, move and copy) are as follows:
